You Should Know Better

The minute you are over ten years old grownups start with the big demands and clichés, like the great “you should know better”. The truth is you cannot know better, even when you are twenty-five, because the world is so complex you cannot be ready even at that age. We are still liable for mistakes, we are not in control of our egos for one thing, and as a second we are not experienced enough. A great part of our lives till the age of twenty-something passes in school and college and a small part is work and real-life problems. This is why the phrase “you should know better” is like a trigger for my anger. Yes, yes I should know better, but I never had the chance to develop the skills, the self-control, the experience, what I know best is to buy stuff and read.

My Baby Blanket

I love my baby blanket, though I am twenty-something and it’s probably not the kind of thing you have to share with everybody. My mom personally sawed that blanket together from a variety of pieces of cloth and it always soothed me when I was a kid. Until this day I see it as a comforting object and it feels good to just lay on it. Well, my parents asked me to throw it away, but I declined, I keep it tucked away in a drawer, I don’t take it out often, but at least I know it is still in the house. It’s of great sentimental value to me and I don’t want to dispose of it, like it is a piece of garbage. For one thing, it was made with great love especially for me and it is one of the very few things mom made. This makes it one of the sweetest memories of her since she passed away.

I Am Not Modern

I feel no shame and loss of self-esteem when I tell people I am not modern at all, I don’t care about fashion too much, though I often manage to synch with the good bits of it. Whenever I acquire something- a bag, a jacket, a piece of furniture, I see what’s available with no idea of which of these things are in fashion, and I follow my own instincts. This habit of getting whatever my instinct tells me works out well by the way. recently I got a big wall art for my house and I have never in my entire life bought any kind of decoration, they always are bestowed to me for some occasion, but this time I said to myself “I’d get by myself!” and I bravely jumped at this endeavor. All my friends were surprised of this sudden urge, but they were even more surprised at how well I have managed it.

The hunger for knowledge is universal, it is what made us who we are today. It’s very rude and narrow-minded of Westerners when they regard aborigines or people from underdeveloped countries as savages, because they are not. They have a different understanding of life, but they are curious and advance in their own way. It’s a funny thing, I want to know more about so many things and phenomenon, but what I want to know the most about are humans and why we so often fail to understand one another and why we keep tangling ourselves in lies and deceit. There are industries mounted on manipulation alone. Well, I suppose I just don’t get the big picture, maybe we need to live in this way. If anything I can’t complain about the lack of science, nowadays it receives so much money!

Owning Life

Be honest, you can’t be a master of your own life. Though you definitely want to be, you are not, and there are several reasons for that. There is always the factor of the Universe- you cannot control all events in it and you cannot counteract to a lot of them. They can mess up your plans any time and in any place. But apart from circumstances, there is the factor of other people. Even if you are Donald Trump there is somebody more powerful than you who can tell you “You cannot do this and you cannot do that.” and he will order you to pay taxes, to behave and to listen to pop music. Life in not under your control and having more of it makes you act worse in the tough times when you can’t influence things positively. I gave up on the idea myself and it’s nice to not be a control freak.

This poor old man I saw on a street near my neighborhood invades my mind on a regular basis for the past one week. It’s not because he was rude to me or because he was a miserable sight- he was, but that’s not the point. He was desperate in a very deep way and I stopped to chat with him and told him to get a job, but he asked me what was the point. I told him to have food, but he didn’t care much for food, there was leftover food everywhere in America. True, but what about respect? The man replied he lost respect after he started working. First his friends lost trust and respect for him, than his family, and finally he admitted to himself even he didn’t like the creature he had become. This man had been a stock broker once and he abandoned this way of life to dwell on the streets.

My Kid Is Always Ill

Almost every other month Mark is ill, and I am afraid there is something wrong with his immune system. Why else would he be sick so often? I researched other options, his tonsils were removed a couple of years ago and with the same purpose- to make the bouts of illnesses rarer. This only resulted in a shift, he currently suffers more ear infections and migraines than colds and the occasional flu visits us too. I am not going to put up with this, though for now the doctors don’t have a good idea whether there is something seriously messed up with Mark or not. Frankly, I think I have to take him to a better specialist, probably in another town, these here are dreadful, we have a very high death rate and this can’t be all due to some bizarre circumstance, but to the competence of the doctors too.

In fact, there is even a professional record studio there, so if you have an idea for a new song, you can realize it in the very moment. The design is great – it has nothing to do with the ordinary hotel rooms, everything is full with colour, style and asymmetrical shapes. I think that the music stars in Europe definitely deserves such a place where they can feel themselves real artists and also, inspire themselves in some way.

Second chance

Should we cut the thing off in one relationship when the things have been messed up? And if we do, should it be forever? If you are the type that never hesitate an already made decision, then you will probably never look back again. However, there are situations in life that are somehow happening because there is a reason. One of the partners needs to grow-up, for example. So is it right to cut off or you will have the power to give a second chance to your partner? We all make decisions by ourselves, so I don’t think there is a right answer of that question. Do what you feel and see what will happen.

Travelling

Travelling is one of the most preferred activities of the people, no matter what their nation is. It doesn’t make such a difference if they don’t have enough money. It can be only for a mile away but still can bring you the same joy and knowledge as a travelling for millions of miles away. It is a simple fact – sometime we know too little about the closest places in our country than the distant Paris or London, which are overexposed in the TV shows – we all know the exact story of the Aifel Tower. Just look around yourself and hit the closest village, I’m sure you will get the air you need immediately.
